Videonystagmography (VNG )

What is Videonystagmography (VNG)?

Videonystagmography (VNG) is a test by which we can observe, record and analyse the movements of the eye in different scenarios. This is a crucial test in the analysis of vertigo. Our ears play a major role in controling our eye movements and this is crucial for the maintaining balance.Videonystagmography is a non-invasive, fast, reliable and accurate test. This facility is being made available for the first time in palakkad.During the test, a specialized infrared camera tracks eye movements in response to visual stimuli and positional changes. Doctors can determine through the analysis of movement if dizziness or balance problems result from the dysfunction of the inner ear, nerve disorders, or central nervous system conditions.

VNG is critical to diagnosing conditions such as:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Meniere’s Disease
  • Vestibular Neuritis & Labyrinthitis
  • Central Nervous System Disorders
